Can government leaders create an environment that fosters innovation?   Can leaders create a culture that encourages employees to contribute their best ideas and be willing to explore new processes?  The good news: researchers say it is possible -- and perhaps, not as hard as you think.

John Hill and Tammie Johnson of Treasury’s Office of Financial Innovation and Transformation have scanned the research and boiled the findings down to four simple steps.  It doesn’t require building an expensive laboratory or creating a new department.

Tammie and John discovered that some common-sense changes in an organization’s planning, communication and risk management processes is all that is needed to get the innovation ball rolling. But it all starts with the leader.
